The CO-OP Education Model bridges the gap between students and the business world, making it easier for students to gain work experience before graduation.

Yıldız Technical University continues to be a pioneer, as it used to be, with the projects, activities, and applications it has implemented within its body. Yıldız Technical University, which believes that not only theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge should be learned during studentship, implements the innovative CO-OP Education Model in this context.

CO-OP Education: World's Largest University-Industry Cooperation Program

The CO-OP Education Model acts as a bridge between the business world and the university, aiming to provide students with work experience in businesses for an entire semester. Students have the opportunity to combine the academic knowledge gained at Yıldız Technical University with practical knowledge in the business world, thanks to the CO-OP Education Model. In this way, students can exhibit their skills during CO-OP Education and rise to the position of priority candidate in the recruitment process of businesses because the business that knows the student during a full semester wants to employ the candidate. Thanks to CO-OP, which is a worldwide trend, undergraduate students have the opportunity to find a job before they graduate both in the US and many countries in Europe. In fact, students get to know the business in which they receive CO-OP training and have the chance to expand their business networks. In our globalized world, the value of the business network is increasing day by day and gaining importance.

What is in the YTU CO-OP Education Model?

CO-OP Education Model aims to reinforce the theoretical knowledge of YTU students through practice and to further increase their job opportunities by making a difference with the experience they gain. The CO-OP Education Model, a redefined and innovative form of traditional internship, focuses on blending theoretical knowledge given at the university with practical knowledge in the field. In this system, YTU introduces students who want to participate in CO-OP Education to the business in the appropriate sector with which it cooperates. The business starts to prepare the student looking for a job during CO-OP Education.

How is the CO-OP education model different from an internship?

An internship is mandatory in many departments, but the CO-OP Training Model is voluntary. Not every student is obliged to participate in CO-OP Education; students who meet the criteria can apply to the CO-OP Education Model. Students have the chance to apply theoretical knowledge one-on-one at work. Those who successfully complete CO-OP Training increase their chances of finding a job when they graduate. Moreover, students involved in CO-OP Education have a very good chance of being employed in the same business as soon as they graduate because the employer has now completed the process of recognizing the student.

Why CO-OP?

For employers: With the CO-OP Training model, employers have a large and more qualified list of candidate employees for their human resource needs. Employers who recruit successful students who want to join CO-OP also contribute directly to the workforce.

For students: Students who prefer to join CO-OP gain experience in the field of work, reinforce theoretical knowledge with practice, and increase their employment opportunities by making a difference.

For universities: Thanks to CO-OP, universities act as a bridge between employers and students. In addition, thanks to this bridge established and helping the student gain experience, they generate employment opportunities for the employer and offer theory-practice cooperation.

The CO-OP Education model helps students enter the business world one step ahead.
