Prof. Dr. Ahmet Göksel AĞARGÜN
Vice Rector for Administration
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Göksel Ağargün was born in 1962 in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey. He graduated from Ondokuz Mayıs University, Faculty of Education, Department of Mathematics Teaching in 1984 and began his academic career as a research assistant in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the same university. In 1988, he continued his academic journey as a research assistant in the Department of Mathematics at Yıldız Technical University (YTU), Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Prof. Dr. Ağargün completed his PhD in 1993 at the University of Wales, UK. Upon returning to YTU, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in 1994 in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 1997 and to full Professor in 2003.
From 2005 to 2008, he served as the Head of the Department of Mathematics at YTU. Subsequently, he held the position of Vice Dean at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences between 2008 and 2010 and served as the Dean of the Faculty of Education from 2010 to 2016.
Prof. Dr. Ağargün held the position of Vice Rector at YTU between 2016 and 2020. As of September 2024, he continues to serve as Vice Rector for Administration at YTU.

Prof. Dr. Vatan KARAKAYA
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs
Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya was born in 1971 in Malatya, Turkey. He graduated from Fırat University’s Department of Mathematics in 1994 and the same year was appointed as a research assistant at Yüzüncü Yıl University’s Institute of Science, Department of Mathematics, where he completed his master's degree in 1996 and his PhD in 2002.
In 2006, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and in 2012, he became a full Professor in the Department of Mathematical Engineering at Yıldız Technical University (YTU). In 2010, he spent time as a visiting scholar at Indiana University Bloomington in the United States.
Prof. Dr. Karakaya joined YTU’s Faculty of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, Department of Mathematical Engineering in 2009. He served as the Rector of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University from 2015 until 2023.
Throughout his career, Prof. Dr. Karakaya has held numerous academic and administrative roles, including memberships in the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK), the Ethics Committee of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK). He has also served as a member of university and faculty boards, YTU Bologna Process Coordinator, Institutional Evaluation (BEK) Coordinator, Director of Institutes, University Senator, and Department Chair.
With over 120 internationally indexed and peer-reviewed publications, more than 130 international conference presentations, and authorship in four book chapters, Prof. Dr. Karakaya’s research focuses on the relationship between mathematics and metaphysics, as well as the philosophy of mathematics and mind.
Since January 2022, Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya has been serving as a member of the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) on behalf of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). As of September 2024, he continues his role as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at YTU.

Prof. Dr. Güleda ENGİN
Vice Rector for Research and Planning
Prof. Dr. Güleda Engin was born in Konya in 1970. She graduated from the Department of Environmental Engineering at Dokuz Eylül University in 1992. While beginning her master’s studies at the Institute of Environmental Sciences at Boğaziçi University, she was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of National Education and continued her academic career in the United Kingdom starting in 1994.
After completing her master’s degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Hertfordshire in 1997, Güleda Engin completed her doctoral studies in Chemical and Process Engineering at Imperial College London in 2000 and was awarded the title of Doctor of Philosophy.
Engin joined the academic staff of Gebze Institute of Technology in 2001 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2005. In 2012, she joined Yıldız Technical University with the title of Professor and continued her academic work at the Department of Environmental Engineering within the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Between 2012 and 2024, she served as the Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering.
In 2024, Engin was appointed as the Director of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences at Yıldız Technical University, and as of 3 February 2026, she was appointed as the Vice Rector for Research and Planning at Yıldız Technical University.
Prof. Dr. Güleda Engin specializes in water pollution control, environmental biotechnology, and wastewater management. She is married and has one child.
