YTU, which has brought R&D studies to the forefront in its strategic plans for the last 12 years, displays the performance of an R&D university with its publications, projects and entrepreneurship studies. It stands out in the field of Clean Energy Technologies with its application and research centers, laboratory infrastructures, advanced technopark and national/international interaction and cooperation. In this context, competency analyses were conducted for the Clean Energy Technologies cluster, one of the areas prioritized by the Council of Higher Education, and workshops were held with the participation of YTU faculty members and public institutions and organizations. The decision to establish an institute was taken unanimously on this issue, which was discussed in detail in the YTU Senate. Support letters were received from many institutions and organizations regarding the establishment of the "Clean Energy Technologies Institute" at YTU.

In addition, the electric vehicle charging station in Davutpaşa Campus encourages the use of electric vehicles. As a result of the practices carried out by the university, the use of zero-emission vehicles on campus is also becoming widespread. There are many electric vehicles used by the technical teams of the university, and electric scooters and bicycles that can be easily reached at many points are available for everyone.

The Greenmetric of Davutpaşa Campus

The annual international ranking of universities' sustainability performance is called Greenmetric. In this system, each university is awarded a score that reflects efforts to reduce its ecological footprint, and sustainability education and research. The Greenmetric table of YTU Davutpaşa Campus, which shows a decreasing trend over the years, is as follows;

Carbon Footprint: Within the scope of Greenmetric standards, the annual carbon emission value based on the electricity consumption on campus and the use of automobiles, motorcycles and buses.

Electricity Consumption: The total amount of electricity consumed on campus during a year.

Number of Students: Number of students receiving formal and distance education.

Number of Staff: Number of academic and administrative staff.
