A YTÜ Wave at Turkey Innovation Week: Our Teams Raked in Awards
Students from Yıldız Technical University won three awards at the İnovaTİM Innovation Competition, held as part of Turkey Innovation Week 2026 (TIW26). The AGRILENS project took first place in the Sustainability category, while the BIORELEASE project took second place in the same category. The MYOGRIP project was awarded third place in the Artificial Intelligence category.
In the InovaTİM Innovation Competition, held as part of Turkey Innovation Week 2026 organized by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TİM), Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ) students took first, second, and third place.
Abdulgazi Şimşek, a sophomore in Control and Automation Engineering, and Ömer Yılmaz, a sophomore in Mathematical Engineering, took first place in the Sustainability category with the AGRILENS platform they developed at Tarlis Agricultural Technologies.
Our fourth-year Chemistry student, Esma Nur Yöney, along with Reyhan Ebrar Tayfur and Zehra Banu Katırcı, also took second place with the BIORELEASE project—a biodegradable delivery system designed for the controlled release of pesticides in agriculture.
Our students Arda Göksu, Taha Berkay Yılmaz, and İlteriş Kaan Eker, Furkan Ak, Dilşad Atasever, Hamza Akdemir, Asya Akturan, Sana Ahmed Aboumousa, and Ezife Şalumlu won third place in the Artificial Intelligence Category with the MYOGRIP project.

Data-Driven Decision Support in Agriculture with AGRILENS
AGRILENS analyzes data obtained from satellite imagery and field sensors to help monitor crop growth and detect potential risks early on. Operating with an AI-powered decision-making mechanism, the platform supports the more efficient management of agricultural processes by providing farmers with recommendations tailored to the specific conditions of their fields.
The platform enables the management of farms, operational processes, and vehicle fleets through a single dashboard. By integrating various data sources, AGRILENS aims to provide a holistic overview of agricultural activities.
Focusing on the use of digital technologies in agriculture, the project ensures that decisions regarding production processes are data-driven. AGRILENS presents a technology-focused approach aimed at increasing efficiency in agricultural production and ensuring more effective use of resources.

BioRelease Project: A Biodegradable Solution for Pesticide Use in Agriculture
BioRelease is a biodegradable carrier system developed to ensure the controlled release of pesticides used in agriculture. Created by combining entirely natural polymers, the project aims to enable the gradual release of the active pesticide ingredient over time and to improve application efficiency.
By reducing pesticide losses and the need for repeated applications, BioRelease aims to help farmers manage their spraying processes more efficiently and lower their pesticide costs. At the same time, by utilizing lignosulfonate—a byproduct of the paper industry—the project supports the circular economy and presents a sustainable approach to reducing environmental impacts on soil and water ecosystems.
AI-Powered Hand Rehabilitation Robot
Developed for individuals experiencing tremors due to conditions such as stroke, partial paralysis, or Parkinson’s disease, MyoGrip is designed as a hand rehabilitation robot that is worn on the wrist, positioned on the hand, and attached to the fingers via small rings. When the user attempts to grasp a ball or a towel during an exercise, very small electrical signals are generated in their muscles, and a 4-channel sEMG sensor system in contact with the skin detects these signals. Since each movement creates a different signal pattern in the muscles, an AI model—trained to recognize tremor through EMG signals, analyze its pattern, and identify movements performed while experiencing tremor—can understand which exercise the patient intends to perform. The moment the model makes its decision, linear motors in the wrist activate and move the exoskeleton on the fingers, helping the hand close and complete the grasp. The device also records the muscle signals and the accuracy of the movements during these exercises for each session, allowing the patient and physical therapist to track the progress of the rehabilitation process by comparing sessions.
As Yıldız Technical University, we congratulate our students and wish them continued success.
