Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik said, “Our London office will help many entrepreneurs expand into global markets.”
YTÜ Makes a Global Move with “UTPO” Status
YTÜ Yıldız Technopark, which has relocated its presence in the UK’s capital to a new address, has also been granted the status of an International Technology Marketing Office (UTPO) by the Turkish Ministry of Trade with its new office. YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, who attended the office opening ceremony, emphasized in an exclusive interview with Kanal Avrupa that the office will serve as a global “hub” for Turkish entrepreneurs.
As one of Turkey’s leading institutions in technology exports, YTÜ Yıldız Technopark has entered a new phase in its international expansion. By relocating its London operations to a more central location, Chancery Station House, the Technopark has also secured the Ministry of Trade’s UTPO support, earning the distinction of being Europe’s first center with this status. The launch event held at the new location was attended by H.E. Osman Koray Ertaş, Turkish Ambassador to London; H.E. Aysan Mullahasan Atılgan, Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in London; YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik; and TÜBİTAK Vice President Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner. During the event, companies set to operate within the office were introduced to international participants.
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Debik, spoke to Kanal Avrupa: "We will utilize our young people’s talents for the benefit of our country."
In special remarks to Kanal Avrupa following the launch, YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik emphasized that this office represents not merely a change of address but an enhancement of capabilities. Prof. Dr. Debik stated the following in his interview:
"Our goal is to utilize the talents of our young people for the benefit of our country, no matter where in the world they are. Our London office will provide 360-degree mentorship to our entrepreneurs here; it will be by their side from accounting to marketing, and from legal matters to investment processes. Thanks to this center, we will witness many Turkish entrepreneurs securing international investments and expanding into the global market in the coming years."
"We are the sole and leading entity with UTPO status"
Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, highlighting YTÜ Yıldız Technopark’s leading position in Turkey (highest volume, most companies, and employees), noted that the UTPO status in London will create a multiplier effect following the overseas operations in Dubai, Amsterdam, and Skopje: "We are the only university and the only technopark with offices supported by the state on an international level. This is a major source of confidence and opportunity for our entrepreneurs. As you know, Yıldız Technical University is one of Turkey’s most established institutions of higher education and ranks among the top four state universities. It is ranked in the 260s globally in engineering. Of course, we are not content with this; we aspire to take our institution even further. We are the only university and technology park with state-supported offices on the international stage.”
"The success of 'Yıldız Explorers' is growing exponentially"
Prof. Dr. Debik, explaining how young people are supported from the idea stage onward, highlighted the significant success achieved by the “Yıldız Explorers” pre-incubation program. Recalling that the 46 teams supported last year secured world and European championships at TEKNOFEST, Debik announced that the program’s scope has been expanded:
"We provide our young people with full support in education, equipment, all travel expenses for international competitions, and commercialization steps. This year, we opened our program to applications from 34 different universities, provided that each team includes at least one YTÜ student. No matter where you are in the world, as long as you meet this condition, you can benefit from the strength of our ecosystem."
"With the Kovan project, we will be the architects of global dreams"
Noting that the London office offers entrepreneurs a comprehensive vision, Prof. Dr. Debik said the following about the Kovan project:
"Our goal is to be the architects of entrepreneurs with global ambitions. Through our Kovan project, we provide 360-degree mentorship to our entrepreneurs at every stage—from accounting to marketing, and from legal matters to investment processes. This structure will directly accelerate the ability of many entrepreneurs to secure international investment and expand globally in the coming years."
Turkish gaming giant makes a splash in London
The event also featured projects that have gained global recognition after emerging from YTÜ Yıldız Teknopark. Motion Blur, a Turkish gaming company that has eliminated in-game loading screens entirely with its developed algorithm and established strategic partnerships with global giants like Nvidia and Intel, presented an exciting preview of its highly anticipated AAA-quality action game, "Black State."
Having taken the stage at the world’s most prestigious trade shows, such as CES 2025 and Gamescom, the project once again demonstrated in London how Turkish game developers have caught the attention of global giants through their advanced engineering skills and solidified their ambitious position on the international stage.
The YTÜ Yıldız Teknopark London Office will continue its operations at the following address: 1st Floor, 31-33 High Holborn, London WC1V 6AX.
