Announcement of the Applied Venture Capital (VC) and Private Equity (PE) Finance Program

The Boğaziçi University Center for Lifelong Education (BÜYEM), in collaboration with Arz Portföy and the Ibn Haldun University Center for Continuing Education, is organizing the Applied Venture Capital (VC) and Private Equity (PE) Finance Program, organized in collaboration with Arz Portföy and Ibn Haldun University’s Continuing Education Center, combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills in the field of investment finance. As part of this 160-hour program, participants will receive comprehensive training in financial analysis, company and startup valuation, investment processes, fund management, law, and regulation.

Applications are now open for the Applied Venture Capital (VC) and Private Equity (PE) Finance Program, designed for students and professionals aiming for careers in the fields of venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE). Organized in collaboration with Boğaziçi University’s Lifelong Learning Center (BÜYEM), Arz Portföy, and Ibn Haldun University’s Continuing Education Center, the 160-hour program aims to reinforce the theoretical foundation of investment finance with practical exercises. The program will provide training on various stages of VC and PE investments, ranging from the analysis of financial markets and the investment ecosystem to company and startup valuation, the evaluation of investment opportunities, and fund and portfolio management. The goal is for participants to develop their analytical and strategic competencies through real-world investment cases, financial modeling exercises, current regulations, and industry best practices.

Who Can Apply to the Program?

The program is designed for third- and fourth-year undergraduate students majoring in economics, business administration, finance, engineering, and related fields, as well as master’s and doctoral students, and young professionals aiming for careers in finance, entrepreneurship, investment, venture capital, and private equity. Entrepreneurs, analysts, and aspiring investors who wish to be part of the startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem, as well as professionals seeking to develop their competencies in investment analysis, fund management, and finance, may also apply to the program.

COURSE CONTENT – TOTAL 160 HOURS

1. Basic Finance and Capital Markets · 36 hours 

Financial literacy · Reading and interpreting financial statements · Basic finance and capital market concepts · Investment instruments · Bloomberg applications. 

2. Economics and Market Dynamics · 20 hours

Macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis · Interpreting economic indicators · Market and economic cycles · Fintech developments · The relationship between sustainability and finance. 

3. Financial Analysis and Valuation · 36 hours

Financial analysis methods · Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis · Leveraged Buyout (LBO) modeling · Multiple analysis · Startup valuation methods · Scenario and sensitivity analyses · Monte Carlo simulations.

4. Venture Capital and Private Equity Investments · 48 hours

VC and PE ecosystem · Fund structures and fund management · Identifying investment opportunities and deal sourcing · Investment evaluation processes · Term sheet analysis · Investment and portfolio management · Exit strategies · Analysis of real-world investment cases.

5. Law and Regulation · 20 hours

SPK and BDDK regulations · Legal framework in finance and investment · AML/KYC practices · Compliance processes · Legal case studies · Regulation and risk management in investment processes.
